ABOUT RONA

Rona trained at the New York School of Interior Design and has also obtained a degree in Art. She started as an assistant at a firm and then took a leap and branched out on her own. While Rona mainly focuses on residential designs, she has done commercial designs as well. Her design approach is unique in that she starts with a modern/contemporary approach and then adds warmth and layers. In doing so, she is creating designs that are “timeless and will stand up to whatever year or generation”.

THE DESIGN

These amazing rooms were designed for a couple, in their 40s, with two children. The couple wanted designs that were bright, airy, and user friendly. They had a small dog as well, which gave an added challenge of finding the right fabrics for a pet friendly home that still accommodated the desired concept design. There was a common need for social space in the design as well. For the living room, they wanted to seat a lot of people and for the children’s bedrooms, they wanted to have enough space for sleepovers. Another challenge was the graffiti painted on the buildings across the street outside of the living room window. Rather than adding in colors that might clash, Rona took the unique approach of keeping the interior design in neutral colors, in order to compliment the graffiti.

WORKING WITH BESPOKE

The benefit of choosing custom over premade is the ability to change the fabrics and scales to fit the design concepts as needed, as well as having an increased quality in product and support from Bespoke. “I know whatever he does, I am in good hands. [He is] just a perfectionist. [He] builds and creates really amazing things.”
